Valley of Flowers: India’s Most Beautiful Floral Destination

For the all trek enthusiasts the “Valley of Flowers” is like a paradise in India. Surrounded with the sea of colorful flowers, located in the cradle of the Himalayas, the Valley of Flowers boasts of flora and fauna that gives you happiness and peace.  It’s a visual treat that reward visitors with a stunning landscape full of 520 alpine varieties. This gorge is just like a dream come true. Famous for its fragrant meadows, outstanding natural beauty, endangered animals, and endemic alpine flowers, this valley recognized as a National Park. 

British Mountaineer Frank Smythe was the first who explored this valley in 1937.  Accorded as a UNESCO World Heritage site and the status of a National Park in the Nanda Devi Biosphere Reserve, it is the most mesmerizing flower valley in India. At an elevation of 3,658mts above the sea level, the valley is flourishing in the middle of Bhyundar Valley. Well-known for exotic varieties of medicinal herbs and plants, it has Indian mythological importance also. It is believed that Hanuman brought Sanjivani Booti from Valley of Flowers for ailing Lakshman. The spellbound charm of this place makes it difficult to come out of its magic. The Valley appears like a reflection of heaven that makes it India’s most beautiful floral destination. 

Beautiful waterfalls and the gentle landscape of the Valley of Flowers complement the almighty Nanda Devi Peaks, nestled in Great Himalayas. Uttarakhand is sprinkled with this breathtaking valley that is spectacular and look exactly like Switzerland that you must have seen in Yash Raj movies.

During the peak season, you can see a carpet of orchids, primulas, marigold, and daisies. Characterized by vivid colors, a heady floral aroma and serenity draws number of nature-lovers, botanists, mountaineers, photographers and trekkers every year. The richly diverse area is also the home of some rare animals like Asiatic black bear, snow leopard, brown bear, and blue sheep. You can also watch some high altitude birds including Monal (The State Bird of Uttarakhand). The Valley of Flower is utterly divine and a must-visit place. You can capture this extraordinary prettiness of mountains, flowers, weather in your cameras. You cannot leave this place without clicking thousands of pictures. This is an awesome place for movies and pre-wedding shoots. Even, the newly wedded couples are also liking this place and enjoy their togetherness in this bizarre. 

The best time to enjoy the beauty of Mother Nature is from June to October. It is in Chamoli district of Uttarakhand that has good connectivity with the Airport and Railway Stations. But trekking is the only way to reach here. It gives you so much thrill, adventure, and happiness. The track starts from Govindghat, where you can reach via bus or cab. Although, the best way to enjoy your trip is to hire trekking companies that makes everything easy for you. They organize your complete trip to Valley of Flowers. Acute Mountain Sickness (AMS)

The mild form of altitude sickness is called Acute mountain sickness. If you are a going to mountains or high altitude trekking, you should aware from AMS. AMS generally happens above than 2500m from sea level. This is common on said elevation, although everybody do not face this problem but anybody can, it is depend on health, physic, food etc. Part of the mystery of acute mountain sickness is that it is difficult to predict who will be affected. Many times it is came to see that more fit and younger people face badly AMS rather than their old fellows.  So it is very important if you are going to high altitude area, make sure you have to give sufficient time to adjust your body with that climate.

Trek to Vasuki Tal | Vasuki Lake | Vasuki Lake Trek in Uttarakhand | Call 09410984988

The high altitude glacial lake situated on the western side of Kedarnath Mandhakini bank was our prime trekking destination during our recent Dho Dham Yatra. As per hindu mythology, Lord Vishnu takes bath here during Rakshabandan. Also there is a myth that Lord Brahma was born here from brahma kamalam, a flower that is seen here in the month of July. And the lake is situated in the abode of Lord Shiva. That sparked interest in us to trek the high altitude spritual lake.

Satopanth Tal / Swragarohini Trek By Prof Elango Surendran

Satopanth Tal is located in the midst of snow-capped peaks at an altitude 15,000 feet above sea level. One has to trek 22 km from mana village to reach the lake. The lake remains under the snow from the end of October to the middle of May or sometimes till end of June. The normal summer temperature remains around 12 °C in day and −5 °C in night, while the winter temperature may drop to even −25 °C in day and −36 °C in night. This is the only trek route in himalayas where trekkers are allowed to walk 22 km in the interior himalyan range near  the Indo- Tibetian border.
